The first farewell

The first farewell

Usually, parties aren’t really my thing (ahem), but somehow I’ve ended up with five farewell parties planned for the next two weeks.  Tonight was the first one – tea and cakes at Hotel des Indes. I’m feeling very spoilt – thank you Mais!

And so it begins

It’s just three weeks to go until the start of a new adventure in Beijing, China.  Canals, tulips and (thankfully) Albert Heijn will soon be a distant memory and the ups and downs of new place, new job, new flat, new friends are set to take over once again.

It’s been a few years now since I left home and I am constantly being told off for my inability to answer my phone, respond to e-mails, sign-in to Skype etc. etc…  I would love to promise that all that’s going to change and that I’ll never forget to return a phone call again, but given that Facebook is banned in China and there’s a 7 hour time difference, I have to be honest and say that it’s very unlikely.  Instead, I thought I’d try this blogging thing.  That way, I can keep you up to date with what’s going on in my life across the globe and – more importantly – I can be the one to get angry with you when I find out you haven’t been reading my blog.

I have to admit I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to put on here and I apologise if it turns out to be mostly just pictures of food and then I get bored and stop posting things altogether, but I thought I’d give it a go.

So that was my first post…

Love to you all
